The Seagull Presentation Software follows a script for any particular course you may be training. The script tells it when to play particular interactive video segments to your class. In-between video segments the script tells the computer what to display on its screen. Your computer screen contains what you are to do during the next interaction. Interactions are the segments of the course when video is not playing. In many cases, your computer screen will act as a teleprompter to guide you in your live training and hands-on activities.
The following is a step-by-step procedure for setting up the computer and Seagull software to present a course:
Step 1:
Once you have connected the VCR to the TV press play on the VCR to assure those wires are properly connected. With that done, be sure that your LANC controlled VCR is switched on and that the Seagull LANC Cable is plugged into the LANC receptacle of the VCR and the Modem Port of your presentation computer.
Step 2:
Turn on your computer. Wait until the computer is warmed up.
Step 3:
Open the hard drive of the computer. The hard drive will be an
icon in the upper right of the computer screen. To open it, simply
move the cursor over it until the icon turns black, then, double-click
your mouse button. Inside the hard drive, look for a file that contains
your centers courses. Open it by double-clicking on it. The
file should look something like this:
Step 4:
Select the file folder that corresponds to the course you which to present.
Each course has a course code such as "W" for asbestos worker course. "WR"
stands for asbestos worker refresher. "PB" stands for "Lead Paint
Abatement"
Choose which course you wish to give and double-click on its folder.
Step 5:
Inside the folder you should find a file named, "AUTOCOURSE - TEST". This file is the script for the course you intend to teach.
Do not double click on this file. You must place the Seagull presentation software into the folder that contains the "AUTOCOURSE - TEST" script that you intend to use. The Seagull presentation software bears the name, "Seagull" and has an icon of a computer with a seagull on its screen. Move the software by clicking on it, holding down the mouse button, and dragging it to the desired location.
Provided the Seagull Presentation Software is located in the same folder with the AUTOCOURSE you wish to present, you can begin the program by double-clicking on the Seagull icon, not the "AUTOCOURSE - TEST" file. If the VCR is on and connected properly to the presentation computer, numbers will momentarily appear in the "Notes And Presentation Script" window. These numbers will correspond to the counter numbers displayed on your VCR.
If the numbers do not appear, your VCR is not turned on, your LANC cable
is not properly connected, or something is broken. You should immediately
contact Seagull if you cannot resolve any problem. If the Seagull
presentation software does not electronically hand shake with the VCR,
the software will not operate.
After the counter numbers, you will see a splash screen:
Click where it says ("Click" to Continue). Now, the Seagull presentation software will prompt you and operate the VCR.
